Our Consulting Philosophy and Ethics
We believe in the "Rules of Business" which is always the Best Practices.
Best Practice is a management idea which asserts that there is a technique, method, process, activity, incentive or reward that is more effective at delivering a particular outcome than any other technique, method, process, etc. The idea is that with proper processes, checks, and testing, a desired outcome can be delivered with fewer problems and unforeseen complications. Best practices can also be defined as the most efficient (least amount of effort) and effective (best results) way of accomplishing a task, based on repeatable procedures that have proven themselves over time for large numbers of people.
We have been around the consulting business long enough to know what works, and what does not work in the world of business.
We believe in avoiding the following consulting practices we have seen over the years which are damaging to clients businesses: buzzwords, propagation of management fads, failing to develop plans that are executable by the client, mismatch between management consulting advice and the ability of business executives to actually create the change suggested resulting in substantial damages to existing businesses, delivering empty promises, stating the obvious and lacking the experience on which to base their advice, bringing few innovations to their clients, offering generic and "prepackaged" strategies and plans that are irrelevant to the clients particular issue, failing to prioritize their responsibilities, placing their own firms interests before the clients, analysis reports only, junior consultants charging senior rates, reselling similar reports to multiple clients as "custom work", lack of innovation, overbilling for days not worked, speed at the cost of quality, unresponsive large firms & lack of (small) client focus, lack of clarity of deliverables in contracts, and more.
We have seen these problems, and work every day to be sure we never commit these "sins of consulting."
In contrast, our reputation demands we adhere to and internalize specific codes of ethics to fortify client relationships by offering fair advice and accepting transactions only if they benefit our clients. In other words, if our consultancy cannot provide effective services to our clients, we will pass on the opportunity, even if the client is willing to pay the fee.
